Pink Ruffled Shirt
This thing was a total PITA to sew, but it washed up the second time really well! The rolled lettuce hems are a bit funky looking, but its still super cute. 3mm rolled hem. One line of shirring around the neck and the arms.

Purple Dip Front Peasant Blouse

This one was a pleasure to sew!! The fabric has a tiny bit of stretch rather than being insanely 4 way stretchy. However, with non stretchy type of fabrics, I have to add ease in so she can get it on and off... So this one is a tiny bit different in that there are 3.5 mm rolled hems, TWO lines of shirring around the arms, two around the neck, and then an additional two across the chest from arm to arm.

I dont' know if ya'll can see the pants... but she wore them

here. <>~ clickable link
That was 10 months ago. Ten months and the pants STILL FIT. I admit that they look a little long in that picture, but MAN... in 10 months, she hasn't changed diaper size yet either! I can't wait to get the gtube in her and see if we can pack on some pudge!

Ka BLAM!

I've always hated video games. I started off with a video game called Echo that was a peaceful dolphin game. It was also downright impossible! I used to love to watch my brother play Sega Sonic... For some reason, I found it more exciting to watch than to participate.

For his birthday, Alex bought himself an xbox 360 and a few games. None of them have appealed to me at ALL. I helped him - briefly - playing Halo. Very hard game to navigate when you have as little sense of direction as Alex. I kid you not, you can wander around in circles, totally lost for hours. There is NO WAY to find your way back unless you can figure out how to go. Alex couldn't. My sense of direction has improved greatly since coming to Canada, and I was able to help him. I think I spent a total of a whole grand five minutes in six months.

Until now. Alex bought Soul Caliber 4 and I am addicted. And I'm pretty darn good at it to... My thumbs just hurt after playing it for a while!!!!

Basic Updates

Alex : Had a great sale yesterday! WHOOHOOO! We also had Cody & Lindsey over with baby Benjamin, who threw up all over his mommy repeatedly. Reminds me of the good old times with Robby. Baby puke has NOTHING on Mila's empty-the-whole-contents-of-stomach onto Mum's clean floor. In other Alex news : Cody's having a BBQ today, and its too cold to swim at inlaws for probably the rest of the month. More news : Alex had to wake up with Mila today, and do the dishes last night for making silly bets. I played a video game and beat him into his place. When the bets were off.... i lost miserably.

Robby : Decorated himself with orange marker. He wanted a tattoo. It was odd. Both palms, and both thighs. While I have one ( small ) tattoo, he's seen it maybe half a dozen times in the last half a dozen months. His counselors swear they didn't see him doing it. I wonder why they weren't paying attention? It obviously took him some time, as most of him is ORANGE. IN other Robby news : juice box fights! Fun, but very very messy when playing at the park. Makes little boys very sticky and in need of baths when they arrive home.

Mila : Sleeping through the night ( mostly ). Pulled out her tube the other day and it took me several tries to re-insert it. Pulled black goo out of her stomach, panicked, realized it was chocolate. Ooops! Ate most of a piece of sourdough toast this morning with Daddy. In other Mila news : Mila stood, arms wide out, in front of the door and demanded that I halt my egress into the hallway with definitive " No! No! " but giggled when Daddy removed her.

DeeDee : has recovered from her every hour pooping episode and is on a strict dry food only diet with zero table food. Immediately following this decree, a piece of ground beef the size of a pingpong ball shot out from the frying pain and landed, eerily, in her dish. She wolfed it all down. Niiiiice. Couldn't have managed that one if I had tried!

Myself : Slept till 8. Felt like I overslept and was more tired for it. Had a mommy fart and bought a beautiful table cloth for a patio set with umbrela. Not sure how that happened but its non returnable. Good thing it was clearance or I'd be pissed with myself. Sewing update : F*****K. Sewed a BEAUTIFUL green shatung satin dress with the bodice perfect... and the skirt inside out. Hand gathered and all. In my attempt to unpicked almost a yard of 5 thread serging, slit a hole in the skirt. F****K.

Other general news :

Upcoming appointments :
August 9th : Pre Admission Clinic
August 11th / 12th : PEG placement
with overnight stay.
Aug 13th - 15th : Nursing visits
to check stoma healing.
End of August : End of Camp
September : Allergist appointment
for Mila

the ENTIRE wedding party including pirates, officiator, and their kids (a pirate bat {c'mon, he's ten!} and a gypsy pirate).

the table setup. when people came in to the hall, they found little bags with their name and table number on them. inside was a letter from the queen expaining that she was sharing the wealth. the coins are chocolage!

the groom and his new family!

Why hello there!

Hi everyone! *waves* This would be Sarah's most fabulous (and only, but we won't go there) sister, Rachel. She asked me to pop in for a moment and post some pictures of my wedding. It was a blast! The theme was originally "Renaissance Faire" but somehow turned into "Pirates!"

This may be somewhat long, but I would say it is worth it. Well, here goes!

First of all, the cake. Oh my, the cake. The cake turned out BEAUTIFULLY! Isn't it just gorgeous?

Next, and most importantly, the groom. Never have I seen him look so darn handsome! We had all of our wedding finery custom made by a good friend of ours. Colors were purple and silver.

This would be the groom and his family. His father was the best man - the man I was originally "supposed" to marry! When we started, the groom was nowhere in sight. The groomsmen and bridesmaids were up front. In walk the "groom" and this lovely lady. She kisses him and goes to sit down.

Then comes my parents and I. Don't they look amazing? They walk me up to the front, each giving me a kiss before sitting down. I take the "groom's" hands and we look lovingly into each other's eyes before....

PIRATES crash the wedding! They burst through the door that you see behind them, with the actual groom in the party. They challenge the "groom" who then becomes the best man and put my husband in his place.
It was an AMAZING time

Confronting fear...

I have a very, very deep seated fear of going to the dentist. It is never pleasant. I had childhood braces for the better par of ten years. I had four impacted and infected wisdom teeth, after which I had four cases of dry socket... and horrible TMJ issues that kept me out of work for another resulting three weeks. I have a HUGE issue with having peoples fingers in my mouth ( the idea itself gives me shivers ), and the scraping, whizzing, buzzing, showering you with mint flavored grit and mouthwash just does me right in.

And so I haven't gone to the dentist in many years.

When Alex told me several weeks ago that he was making appointments, I began to have panic attacks. My teeth never hurt but there was some plaque buildup that I could see - I knew it wouldn't be good. I've had two pregnancies where my teeth had a daily stomach acid bath... many days several times. It had been YEARS since I'd gone... I couldn't do it... I just couldn't force myself to go. I convinced him - once - to delay the trip by another week. After that, though, there were no more excuses.

Then the nightmares began. And the panic attacks. And the constant humour to prepare me for the worst. Tooth pulling. Picking scraping scaling probing with the tiny axe blade in sensitive gums. Root canals minus anesthetic.

Having all of my teeth pulled under sedation and being fitted with dentures sounded wonderfully attractive. I checked the calendar. One day.... Crap. Stomach flu? Fall down the stairs? What, what what could I do get out of going? Feign a migraine? " Forget " and be out of cell phone contact?

But I didn't. I even got in the car. I stared through the window, making jokes about not going in and just staying in the car. Alex got out and took my keys. The heat inside the car rose to a sweltering 40* instantly. I thought to myself.... heat stroke would be a good one... But I got out of the car, blinking back hysteria and walked into the dentist.

I could go into details about the embarrassment of telling the dentist it had been just shy of nine years. I could tell you how they took Alex back first, and I almost bolted out the door. I could say how I started to cry and hyperventilate, and actually wondered if I was going to pass out. I could say how horrible it was to hear my name, hear " Eight years? Oh dear... " and how the only way I got through it was texting a friend, and a music remake to drown out the polishing drill.

But what it really comes down to is... I still hate the dentist. And because I was a pansy and didn't go... I have lots and lots of work to be done.

Crap.

I wonder if they can prescribe Valium for dentist fear?
